Gwyneth Paltrow Reacts To Returning To The MCU As Pepper Potts
Gwyneth Paltrow comments on potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Pepper Potts. As part of the cast of 2008's Iron Man, Paltrow is one of the oldest actors in the franchise. She survived the events of the Infinity Saga, but since Iron Man's funeral, she hasn't been spotted in the MCU.
During her recent guest appearance on The Goop Podcast, Scarlet Johansson asked Paltrow about the possibility of her returning to the MCU. While the Pepper Potts actress isn't fully closing the door on the idea, she casts doubts that she'll be back anytime soon. Read their full exchange below:
Paltrow: “I think so. I mean, I didn’t die so they can always ask me.”
Johansson: “I think you may come back at some point."
Paltrow: “Really? A 64-year-old Pepper Potts? How great.”
When Pepper Pots Could Appear Next In The MCU Paltrow may not be sure if she'll still return to the MCU, but Pepper Potts has a slew of different projects that she can appear in. Firstly, Don Cheadle's tv-turned-film Armor Wars, and secondly, Ironheart on Disney+. Both projects will delve deep into the legacy of Iron Man, and since she's left to spearhead Stark Industries, it makes sense that she gets involved.
For what it's worth, however, it's unlikely that Paltrow will be a regular player in the MCU moving forward, regardless. Even when she was contractually obligated to be in the franchise during the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios used her sparingly. Despite that, it would still be a big mistake to totally write Pepper Potts off, considering her ties to Tony Stark. Ignoring her existence is almost like disregarding Iron Man himself.
