Please Marvel, I Need Avengers 5 & 6 To Make Up For A Totally Wasted Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo Opportunity
Summary
- Deadpool & Wolverine missed a huge cameo opportunity for Storm in their movie.
- Storm's omega-level powers could shine in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
- Halle Berry's Storm deserves a final Marvel appearance before the MCU's X-Men debut.
Deadpool & Wolverine missed a huge cameo opportunity, and I'm hoping it's something that the MCU's Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars can rectify. Despite Deadpool & Wolverine being stuffed full of nostalgic cameos, there was still a smattering of expectations that were left unfulfilled. While plenty of characters from Fox's X-Men franchise joined Hugh Jackman's Wolverine on screen, the host mostly comprised villains, including Tyler Mane's Sabretooth and Ray Park's Toad.
On the side of the titular antiheroes, meanwhile, were a handful of Marvel movie veterans, including Wesley Snipes' Blade and Jennifer Garner's Elektra, while Channing Tatum's Gambit paid off a movie role that was not to be (yet). While there were plenty of reasons for Marvel to exclude some of Fox's most beloved X-Men characters – not least of which being that they all couldn't receive a suitable amount of screen time – there was arguably room for at least one. With that in mind, I know the perfect candidate that Deadpool & Wolverine wasted.

8 Halle Berry's Missed Storm Cameo In Deadpool & Wolverine Is A Total Waste Deadpool & Wolverine Could Have Fit Storm Into The Story Close So far, the MCU has featured three of Fox's X-Men characters within the Multiverse Saga. Deadpool & Wolverine would have been the perfect place to debut another given the setting, especially since Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was also starring. Halle Berry's Storm would have been an explosive addition to the lineup, and the perfect X-Men candidate to join the lineup of resistance members. Given the movie was a love letter to Fox's X-Men franchise in the first place, just one more X-Man in the form of Storm would have indeed gone down a storm.
An image posted to Instagram of Halle Berry sporting short, silver hair had sparked rampant speculation that she would be reprising the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.
This wasted opportunity is compounded by the fact that Halle Berry herself stated that she would have accepted the role. When asked in an interview with ComicBook.com if she would be among the cameos featured in Deadpool & Wolverine, Berry stated that she wouldn't – but would have done so if asked. While this is disappointing, I am at least heartened by the fact that the Multiverse Saga still has two more major chances to give Storm the spotlight she deserves.
The MCU's Missed Storm Cameo Can Be Used Better In Avengers 5 Or 6 Avengers: Doomsday And Avengers: Secret Wars Can Showcase Storm's Power Close While story details for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are yet to emerge, it can be safely assumed that both will deal heavily with the multiverse. The only acceptable way for the MCU to explain Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Doctor Doom is to ensure he is from another universe, after all, and given he will be the next arch-villain for the Avengers to face, Avengers: Doomsday should see universes collide – opening the door once more for a Storm cameo. Avengers: Secret Wars, meanwhile, is even more likely to feature multiversal cameos.
Ultimately, I think this could be even better. Storm is an omega-level mutant, whose "atmokinesis" powers were never given their due in her cinematic career with Fox. Storm could finally display her true potential against an enemy as formidable as Doom – something which was at least done more justice in Marvel's X-Men '97, which helped prove that the studio knows what Storm is capable of. Whatever happens, Marvel needs to ensure that Halle Berry's Storm is one X-Men character given the chance to improve her legacy.
Halle Berry's Storm Deserves A Final Marvel Appearance Before The MCU's X-Men Debut Storm Needs Time In The Limelight Close One of the few problems with X-Men '97 was that it conveyed who characters like Storm could – or should – have been. While this is a great sign for the MCU's own X-Men projects moving forward, it should also herald another chance for Halle Berry to throw her full weight behind a more formidable and theatric version of Storm than Fox's X-Men franchise. At the very least, it could afford her the chance to redeem one of the worst one-liners in superhero movie history, as her fight with Toad is still infamous years later.
X-Men: Doomsday and X-Men: Secret Wars are likely to be replete with cameos like those in Deadpool & Wolverine, and are therefore the most likely places for Halle Berry to reprise her role. Unlike Professor X and Beast, Storm felt like an underdeveloped character in Fox's X-Men franchise and should receive a far more impactful moment on screen than the brief scenes afforded to Fox's X-Men characters so far in the MCU. At the very least, we know now that Berry is on board, so the prospect of a return seems a hopeful one.
Deadpool & Wolverine R A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
