- The success of Deadpool & Wolverine opens the door for the Resistance to team up again in the MCU.
Deadpool & Wolverine's multiverse characters could all come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future, and there are a few cool ways for that to happen. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home, no MCU movie had passed the $1 billion mark. Enter Deadpool & Wolverine. With the combined might of Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, an expansive multiverse story, and Deadpool & Wolverine's star-studded cast, the MCU's latest film has become one of the most successful in the franchise's history, now the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

While James Marsden's Cyclops and other co-stars of Jackman's from the X-Men days were sadly absent, Deadpool & Wolverine had enough space to include several exciting character returns and even a major debut. Heroes like Chris Evans' Johnny Storm and Channing Tatum's Gambit led to some of the movie's best and most shocking moments. Based on the popularity of the multiverse characters, all of them could return in future Marvel movies.

2 Jennifer Garner’s Elektra Could Return In Another Marvel Team Movie A Solo Project For The Character Would Not Be Ideal Close Jennifer Garner's Elektra was the first of the multiverse characters to be reported to show up in the film. Deadpool & Wolverine confirmed that by making Elektra the first member of the Resistance — leaving out Chris Evans' Johnny Storm, who was not seen with the group — to appear onscreen. The movie featured many exciting action sequences with Garner's Elektra, and the actress brought a lot of confidence to the role that made the heroine an intimidating figure. Garner recently shared an Elektra training video on Instagram.
The actress said the experience of playing Elektra Natchios again in Deadpool & Wolverine alongside the other heroes from the Resistance felt "like a dream." As such, Garner could be open to reprising her role in a team setting. Given how the actress' original solo movie as Elektra did not turn out great, a return to the role is best reserved for a movie like Avengers: Secret Wars, which could see the MCU's Avengers ask for help from multiverse heroes against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.

1 Wesley Snipes’ Blade Could Return In A Movie Suggested By Ryan Reynolds Marvel's One And Only Blade For Now Close Next up is Wesley Snipes. The actor's appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine was one of the movie's most shocking elements for a few reasons. First, Snipes and Reynolds had long been rumored to not like each other due to problems on the set of 2004's Blade: Trinity. Adding to that, Marvel Studios has been developing Mahershala Ali's MCU Blade movie for the past few years, so using Snipes' character out of the blue was quite surprising. Deadpool & Wolverine helped Snipes break a record.
A new R-rated entry that focuses on Blade's final adventure could give [Wesley] Snipes one more epic solo turn as the Daywalker and let [Mahershala] Ali be the MCU's focus.
Snipes' Blade return makes the actor the longest-running star to play a Marvel character, with almost 26 years as Blade. Fans have requested that Snipes return for more as Blade, and Reynolds even suggested the perfect Snipes Blade movie. According to the Deadpool star, Snipes could have a Logan-like send-off film. That would be perfect for the character, as a new R-rated entry that focuses on Blade's final adventure could give Snipes one more epic solo turn as the Daywalker and let Ali be the MCU's focus.

1 Channing Tatum’s Gambit Could Finally Get A Solo Movie And Join The MCU The Troubled Gambit Movie May Now Happen Close Channing Tatum's Gambit is, without a doubt, Deadpool & Wolverine's breakout character. That is deserved, as Tatum absolutely loves Gambit and has been trying to make a solo movie as the hero happen for quite a long time. Tatum was cast as Gambit in 2014, but Fox never managed to get his X-Men spinoff film right. After several years in development hell, Tatum finally managed to play Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. The character looked just like he does in the comics, had exciting action scenes, and was hilarious at every turn.
Tatum's Gambit movie was scrapped after years of development when the Disney/Fox merger happened.
Given the popularity of Tatum's Gambit performance, it would not be a surprise if the actor were to return for more as the mutant. In fact, Tatum is talking to Kevin Feige about a Gambit movie, with Marvel Studios possibly being the one to finally crack the project. Tatum was incredibly grateful to have played Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine and would love to return for more, which could also lead to the star being part of the MCU's X-Men team in the franchise's reboot.

1 Dafne Keen Could Stay In The MCU As Wolverine X-23 Still Has A Lot Of Untapped Potential To Explore Close Dafne Keen's X-23 was a crucial character in Deadpool & Wolverine's story. The hero had a key connection to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, as Laura and the iconic member of the X-Men had an epic and tragic journey together in 2017's Logan. Since the movie used both the skeleton of the Wolverine from Logan and Jackman as another variant of the hero, it made sense to include Keen. The actress did not miss a beat, fitting right back into the role and forming an emotional bond with the new Wolverine.
Dafne Keen would love to continue as X-23 in the MCU, with the actress saying, "To me, we've only scratched the surface with her since she's such a complex character."
Interestingly, Keen's X-23 was the only one out of the multiverse characters to appear at the end of the movie with Deadpool and Wolverine in Wade Wilson's apartment. That makes her the most likely to show up again in the MCU, possibly teaming up with the duo in a sequel or one of the two upcoming Avengers movies. At only 19, Keen could become part of the MCU, playing Laura for the next two decades, either as a Wolverine in addition to Jackman or the X-Men's main Wolverine, which would avoid issues with recasting Logan.

8 Chris Evans Could Play A Different Version Of Johnny Storm In The MCU One Of The MCU's Biggest Stars Could Return Yet Again Close Chris Evans' returned to the MCU for the first time since 2019's Avengers: Endgame in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor has said that he would do anything for Reynolds, with Evans jumping on the chance to reprise his role as Johnny Storm, not Captain America, as soon as he was asked by the Deadpool star. Despite the Human Torch's rather gruesome death in Deadpool & Wolverine, Evans could still come back to the MCU as the member of the Fantastic Four in the near future.
Related I've Worked Out Chris Evans' Best Possible MCU Return As Steve Rogers To End The Multiverse Saga After his Human Torch return in Deadpool & Wolverine, I believe there is a perfect way to bring back Chris Evans to the MCU as Captain America.
The multiverse allows Evans to play a different variant of the Human Torch in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is bound to feature several multiverse characters in addition to the MCU's heroes. It could also be revealed that Evans' Johnny in Deadpool & Wolverine was a variant of the one from the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, which would make it possible for the original Fantastic Four cast to appear together one more time. Evans could also pull off double duty as Johnny Storm and Captain America, which would be a major event.
Deadpool & Wolverine R A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
