Across the Spider-Verse Ending Scene Set To "Like A Prayer" In Spider-Man Video Edit "Makes Me More Hyped"
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse boasts a dramatic ending that has just been spliced in an edit with Deadpool & Wolverine's "Like a Prayer" cover, and it's enough to make fans even more hyped for the Sony Spider-Man sequel. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the second animated movie in Sony's Spider-Verse franchise, continuing the story of Miles Morales and his multiversal adventures. The movie received substantial acclaim upon release, supercharging hype for the third and final movie in the series: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
That hype has now been compounded as @kianwyld's edit of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's final sequence has become the latest in a recent cavalcade of content to use a choir cover of Madonna's "Like a Prayer" from Deadpool & Wolverine in other Marvel movie scenes.
Sony's Spider-Verse movies are acclaimed for their soundtracks and comprise one of few Marvel movies to utilize pop tracks. The original final sequence was originally accompanied by Daniel Pemberton's original score – but Madonna's "Like a Prayer" certainly adds some extra emotional heft to the sequence as it sets up the sequel.

Everything We Know About Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse's Release The Release Date Changed Last Year Close Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally slated for a March 2024 release date, though this was removed from Sony's Spider-Man release slate in July 2023. Since then, updates have been scarce aside from assurances by those involved in the movie, such as Miles Morales actor Shameik Moore, that the movie is definitely en route and worth getting hyped about. Pavitr Prabhakar actor, Karen Soni, delivered the latest update in August, stating:
We're going to start recording for that one in a few months which I'm so excited about. That movie is deep in production. It’s animation, so it’s different and takes a long time. We’ll see when it’s ready and when it ends up coming out, but, I’m really excited.
As Soni indicates, a concrete release date remains elusive for now. His comments that the movie is "deep in production," however, is a promising sign, and may indicate a late 2025 or early 2026 release date, depending on how smoothly the next steps of the production go. Filmmakers have also assured that the movie will not use any generative AI – which is a good sign but also indicative of how long the movie will take to make. As the last two Spider-Verse movies were Oscars contenders, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will likely strive for the same.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released on June 1, 2023.
The movie will pick up where Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse left off, with Miles Morales trapped in a universe in which a variant of himself has picked up the Prowler mantle and holds him captive. Gwen Stacy and a ragtag group of Spider Society members who debuted in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the sequel will be seeking Morales out, while Spot continues on a vengeful spree across the multiverse. Suffice it to say, the long build-up will only add to the hype – but we can be sure that it will be worth the wait.
