Deadpool & Wolverine Deleted Scene Raises A Huge Question About What Happened To Gambit & Channing Tatum"s MCU Future
A new deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine has been released, posing major questions about Channing Tatum's future in the MCU as Gambit. After years of hopes that Channing Tatum would portray Remy LeBeau's Gambit in live-action, he finally got his dream in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. Gambit was introduced as a member of the Resistance team fighting against Cassandra Nova in the Void, along with Elektra, Blade, the Human Torch and X-23. Tatum's debut as Gambit has earned huge praise, spurring hopes for his return.
At first, it seemed as though Gambit and the other Resistance members would remain trapped in the Void after Deadpool and Wolverine defeated Cassandra Nova in Earth-10005. However, Wade Wilson struck a deal with the Time Variance Authority's B-15, Wunmi Mosaku reprising her Loki role, to return the Resistance heroes to their original timelines. While this process wasn't seen on-screen, a newly-released deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine implies Gambit was saved from the Void, but this could come with a twist.

6 Gambit Is Set Up To Leave The Void In Deadpool & Wolverine's Deleted Scene Gambit's Deleted Scene Could Be Glimpsed In Deadpool & Wolverine's Post-Credits Scene On August 27, Ryan Reynolds shared a deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine that showed Gambit walking through Cassandra Nova's base of operations in the Void in the wake of the Resistance team's battle against her forces. A snippet of this scene was seen by eagle-eyed viewers on a screen in the TVA in Deadpool & Wolverine's post-credits scene, but more details are revealed in the newly-released scene. Thankfully, this scene teases Gambit's escape from the Void and possible return to the MCU.
In the scene, Channing Tatum's Gambit walks past the dead bodies of Daniel Medina Ramos' Toad and Ayesha Hussain's Psylocke scattered around Cassandra Nova's Ant-Man base in the Void. When he eventually turns to the camera, the reflection in his eyes hints at his return to the MCU. As Ryan Reynolds noted in his caption, Gambit sees a "Marvel Sparkle Circle," Deadpool's name for the portals created by the MCU's Masters of the Mystic Arts. While this is an exciting development, it raises a huge question about where exactly Gambit went after this scene.
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Deleted Scene Implies It Wasn't The TVA Who Saved Gambit The Time Variance Authority Doesn't Use "Marvel Sparkle Circles" The fact that Gambit sees a "Marvel Sparkle Circle" in Deadpool & Wolverine's deleted scene is somewhat confusing, as the Time Variance Authority don't use these portals to travel throughout the multiverse. Deadpool's deal with B-15 to return the Resistance team members to their original timelines implied that the TVA would use their typical Time Doors for ease, allowing these heroes to simply step out of the Void and back into their worlds. The absence of a Time Door and the appearance of a portal suggests it wasn't the TVA who saved Gambit.
Deadpool & Wolverine introduced the idea that specially-designed Sling Rings can open portals to other realities, meaning Channing Tatum's Gambit could have literally traveled anywhere after this deleted scene. Gambit is the only hero in Deadpool & Wolverine whose original universe has never been seen in live-action. If the TVA didn't send Gambit back to his world with the use of a Time Door, any number of other MCU characters could have approached the Cajun mutant by opening a portal.
Taylor Kitsch played the Gambit of Fox's X-Men franchise in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though Channing Tatum was supposed to appear in a solo Gambit movie and in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, but neither came to fruition.
Who Could Have Saved Gambit From The Void In Deadpool & Wolverine? Several MCU Characters Can Open Portals Like The Masters Of The Mystic Arts Close Many characters in the MCU have demonstrated the ability to open "Marvel Sparkle Circles," though this has most prominently been a gift displayed by the Masters of the Mystic Arts of the Doctor Strange franchise. This could mean that Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange himself opened a portal to the Void to save Gambit. Strange has been set up as a key figure in the Multiverse Saga, and he is currently off on a mysterious mission to stop an incursion – a mission he may need a powerful multiversal team to help with. Gambit would be a formidable inclusion.
Throughout the Multiverse Saga, Benedict Wong's Wong, the current Sorcerer Supreme, has been collecting his own group of superpowered characters, and Gambit could be a new addition to this mysterious team. This could see him join forces with the likes of Shang-Chi, Katy, Emil Blonsky's Abomination and Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk, perhaps forming a pseudo-Avengers team ready for battle in Phase 6. Gambit's portal could have been created by any number of Mystic Arts-powered variants, too, such as versions of the Ancient One, Kaecilius, or even Agamotto.

Gambit may have also been collected by Emma Corrin's Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine's deleted scene. Cassandra Nova is a supremely powerful being, so it's possible she didn't actually die at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, just as Deadpool and Wolverine themselves survived. Equipped with an Infinity Stone-powered Sling Ring, Nova could easily collect Gambit from the Void for some strange purpose. Another suggestion could be that Ned Leeds rediscovered his magical abilities from Spider-Man: No Way Home and helped Gambit escape from the Void, but this is very unlikely.
Where Gambit Could Reappear In The MCU’s Future Channing Tatum's Future As Gambit Has Been Heavily Discussed In Recent Weeks After Channing Tatum's debut as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, there have been hopes that the actor will reprise the role in the MCU's future. Speculation has been spreading regarding a revival of Tatum's canceled plans for a solo Gambit movie, while it's also possible he could reappear in more crossover events in the MCU's future. The appearance of a "Marvel Sparkle Circle" in Deadpool & Wolverine's deleted scene makes this even more likely, and there are several upcoming MCU projects that could feature the return of Remy LeBeau.
Most notably, Phase 6's Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are expected to feature a huge number of returning Marvel characters, so it would be great to see Gambit included in the fight against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The possibility that Gambit was retrieved from the Void by Doctor Strange also creates the opportunity for the as-yet-unannounced Doctor Strange 3 to mark the return of the popular mutant hero. Marvel Studios is also actively developing its X-Men reboot, and there are new hopes that Channing Tatum could be the MCU's official Gambit after his introduction in Deadpool & Wolverine.
