According to a report by Variety, Disney just crossed $3 billion at the box office after Deadpool's strong sophomore weekend. With Deadpool bringing in $824 million globally in just two weeks, it brought Disney over the $3 billion hump. It is a remarkable total, considering that Disney has released only four nationwide movies this year: Planet of the Apes, Inside Out, Deadpool, and First Omen. The company still has more movies planned this year, which could help it break over $4 billion before the total resets in 2025.

The year began with a relatively meek performance by The First Omen, which earned $54 million globally. Disney can also source box office success to its various re-releases and smaller releases. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was released to celebrate the 25th Anniversary, earning nearly $20 million during its 2024 run. Marvel Studios' Spider-Man movies also earned a re-release, and Disney's Luca earned its first theatrical release. While they did help to bring added support for Disney's overall box office take, the company can thank Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2 for its milestone.
