- The multiverse could introduce various X-Men teams to face the Avengers, making an Avengers vs X-Men adaptation possible for 2026.
The chances of the Avengers movies to include a version of Avengers vs X-Men in the future have been addressed. The Marvel Cinematic Universe still has to introduce its version of the X-Men, though multiple mutants have begun to appear via the multiverse and more. With Marvel's Avengers movies soon making a return, fans have become increasingly excited about the prospect of seeing the two teams together on the big screen, and that has now been addressed.
Speaking to Comicbook.com's Phase Zero, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige commented on the possibility of seeing an Avengers vs X-Men event in the MCU.
Feige noted that the MCU had to make changes to major comic book storylines due to not having the movie rights to certain characters, such as the X-Men. While not confirming that an Avengers vs X-Men movie is coming, Feige did say that future Marvel movies now can use the full force of Marvel Comics characters, saying, "It’s all possible now." Check out the full quote below:
“What’s fun is it’s all possible now…
So when we were doing [Captain America:] Civil War for instance, or even [Avengers:] Infinity War, there were just dozens of characters that we had to take out of those comic stories because we didn't have access to them. Now as we choose upcoming storylines, we don't have to do that, and we have access to all of them."
Related 10 MCU Movie Announcements & Reveals I Want To See At SDCC 2024 With Marvel Studios reportedly set to appear at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, there are a few movie announcements and new details that I hope we"ll get.
1 When Could An Avengers Vs X-Men Event Happen In The MCU The Meeting Could Be Fairly Close Close At the moment, the MCU's X-Men movie has a writer but no director, script, or cast. As such, the film is still some time away, with the start of Phase 7 after Avengers: Secret Wars being the most likely for it. That would allow the MCU to close out the Multiverse Saga before moving on to the mutants. Avengers vs X-Men could then be the first movie for the team or an event after Marvel's new X-Men debut.
However, there is a chance that Avengers 5's story could end up being changed to include the X-Men. The reason for that is Kang the Conqueror is reportedly out of Avengers 5, with the movie said to no longer be called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Marvel is reportedly searching for a new story and title for the next appearance of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Avengers vs X-Men would be an exciting replacement for Kang.
Related Seriously, Marvel, Why Are We All Ignoring The Best Answer To All Of Avengers 5's Problems?! There are many problems surrounding Avengers 5, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe could deal with them using a solution from the Infinity Saga.
3 Marvel would not even have to fast-track its plans to reboot the X-Men if they decided to include the mutants in Avengers 5. The reason for that is the multiverse allows plenty of possible X-Men teams to face the Avengers. Marvel could pluck either the original or younger version of Fox X-Men to fight the MCU's Avengers as an incursion puts both worlds at odds. The Marvels also introduced a new live-action X-Men universe with Fox variants that could play into Avengers 5. Based on that, a 2026 Avengers vs X-Men adaptation is possible.
Avengers 5 Avengers 5 will bring Earth's Mightiest Heroes together for the first time in the Infinity Saga. Not having appeared since Avengers: Endgame in the MCU Phase 3, the wide range of heroes must find a way to come together to defend Earth once more.
