Daredevil Showrunner Thinks of Born Again as Season 4 of Netflix Show

Daredevil: Born Again looks poised to be something of a reboot of the popular Netflix series, but former Netflix showrunner Erik Oleson continues to think of it as season 4. The original Daredevil series was a breath of fresh air when it hit Netflix in 2015, offering a darker, grittier tone that set it apart from both the MCU and the 2003 movie starring Ben Affleck. Despite the acclaim for its writing, action and Charlie Cox's pitch-perfect casting, Daredevil was abruptly cancelled after three seasons as Marvel Studios let their deal with Netflix lapse to properly introduce him and other characters to the wider MCU.
Now, although series leads Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal are set to reprise their roles in Daredevil: Born Again, Daredevil’s supporting cast is still MIA, there is a nagging question of how much story and character will carry over from the first series. As far as season 3 showrunner Erik Oleson is concerned, however, Daredevil: Born Again is Daredevil season 4 until proven otherwise. See what Oleson explained exclusively to Screen Rant, and our full interview for the Carnival Row series finale, below:

I'm rooting for them. I don't have any inside information for you. I knew it was going to happen just from rumblings through friends in the grapevine of the Marvel family. But I really don't know what they're planning yet. We used pieces of Born Again in our season. I still call [Daredevil: Born Again] season 4, but they're trying to insist it isn't, so I'll go along with whatever they want to call it.
I'm very happy that Charlie [Cox] and Vincent, and hopefully more of our Marvel friends, will get a chance to go make more of the show. I'm a huge fan of them; I'm a huge fan of the show. I look forward to seeing what it is. I hope it's great, let me put it that way.
