Spider-Man: No Way Home may have ended with Peter Parker’s friends forgetting about his existence, but a potential appearance for them in Spider-Man 4 could still make sense. No Way Home was a busy movie that focused heavily on the multiverse aspect of the story, but Peter’s friendship with Ned and his relationship with MJ was at the heart of it all. The two were a huge help in the Spider-Mans’ fight against their various villains, which is what made their conclusion all the more heartbreaking.
When Dr. Strange had to wipe the whole universe’s memory of Peter Parker, that included his two best friends. Many believed that this was how the MCU was going to write MJ and Ned out of Spider-Man 4, especially since they’ll be heading to MIT while Peter stays in New York, but producer Amy Pascal has since hinted in an interview with Variety that Zendaya will make an appearance in the film after all. For those worried that her appearance will negate the ending of Far From Home, there are still reasons for her and Ned to appear without the MCU having to undo Dr. Strange’s spell.
