  • Bringing Loki and Thor back together could provide a compelling conclusion to their story, allowing them to honor each other's strengths and find peace with their original ending in Avengers: Infinity War.

Loki executive producer Kevin Wright discusses the evolution of Loki throughout the series and how his reunion with Thor could go in the future. Thor last saw Loki when he was killed by Thanos, but this version of Loki is not the one that he remembers. This version of Loki has had a completely different experience branching off after the events of Avengers. However, much like the Loki Thor knew, he has gone through drastic changes and grown from these experiences, including watching his life play out from the moment he branched off the sacred timeline until his death.
During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for the second season of Loki, Wright addressed whether Thor would recognize this version of Loki. This version of Loki has had to learn to look at the greater good over his own selfish needs and see how his actions impacted his family, including the loss of his mother. While his growth in the first season of Loki was intriguing to watch, the second season could lead to even bigger questions as Loki grapples with the ramifications of Sylvie killing He Who Remains and how that can hurt not only the people he cares about at the TVA but the multiverse as a whole. Check out Wright's full quote below:

Kevin Wright: So the way that you just phrased that is something that we talked a lot about amongst all of the filmmakers, and that is something that really excites me is eventually one day, if we're lucky enough and the sun shines on the two of them again, I don't think they would recognize each other.
Actually, let me rephrase this, because people would go, "Of course they would." I think they would not recognize the personalities of one another, also would be very at peace and accepting of one another in a very exciting way because there has been so much growth. I think there will hopefully, and I can't say this too much without spoiling where this goes, but I think there is a great piece within both those characters where they are now in the MCU. And there's something that maybe that would allow them to be closer than they've ever been.

What A Thor & Loki Reunion Could Look Like Loki and Thor have always had a difficult relationship, with Loki feeling like he doesn't belong and is less than Thor because of his origin, while Thor has always loved and admired Loki. Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War brought them closer together, but these shared experiences are not something this version of Loki has beyond being a spectator. However, while Thor believes Loki is dead, a reunion could be possible, especially with Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars likely bringing the heroes of the multiverse together to face the different Kang variants.
