Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the final adventure of the title team as it’s currently known, but even though this is the end for them, their third and final movie is vital for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to two new characters. The Guardians of the Galaxy are following an old MCU tradition and their third solo adventure will be their last, but before they leave, they will introduce new characters that will set up exciting storylines and the arrival of more characters that will further expand the MCU, making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 a key entry in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.
Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, in which Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) was killed by Thanos and her 2014 version escaped after traveling to the present, the Guardians of the Galaxy are now adjusting to life on Knowhere while Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) continues to grief Gamora’s departure. When parts of Rocket Raccoon’s (voiced by Bradley Cooper) past resurface, Peter leads the team on a mission to protect Rocket, but it could also lead to the team dissolving. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will introduce two big characters that will have a big impact on the rest of the MCU: Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), and it’s thanks to them that the third Guardians movie is key for the MCU’s future even if the title team doesn’t continue after it.
