Wolverine's helmet has never appeared in a live-action Marvel movie, which has been a bone of contention among many fans, but it may finally show up in Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie brings Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Logan to the MCU for the first time alongside several other characters from Fox's X-Men Universe. If Deadpool & Wolverine's record-breaking trailer viewing figures and projected box office are anything to go by, it is safe to say that the movie has drawn an incredible amount of hype.
This began with the first look at the titular heroes in Deadpool & Wolverine with an image that showed Wolverine sporting a yellow and blue suit that closely resembles his comic book counterpart. Given Jackman's presence was just as valuable to generating hype as the suit he was wearing, it is no wonder that this first look did not cover his face with a cowl. Nevertheless, one year after that image was first released, there is still no sign of the cowl, prompting questions about when – if at all – it will appear.

Marvel Fans Have Always Wanted Wolverine's Helmet To Appear Close Jackman's Wolverine has one of the most indelible legacies in superhero movie history after appearing in nine X-Men movies. Although a handful of fellow mutants like Magneto and Psylocke boasted mostly comic-accurate costumes at some point in their X-Men movie career, the same privilege has never been afforded to Wolverine. It is no wonder, then, that fans have been clamoring for some semblance of a comic-accurate Wolverine costume ever since he debuted in the franchise with civilian clothes and black leathers in 2000's X-Men.
This enthusiasm is mostly confined to comic book fans and anyone who watched the X-Men animated shows like the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series of the 1990s who were looking for as many live-action nods to the originals as possible. Even in these series, Wolverine stands out from his fellow X-Men with one of the most garish outfits in the lineup. Suffice it to say, in the context of the early live-action adaptations of the X-Men in the 2000s, this would have stuck out like a sore thumb – mostly because, frankly, it would have looked ridiculous.
Deadpool & Wolverine Marks A Milestone For Wolverine's Costume Close The ostentatious design of Wolverine's bright yellow costume and helmet may not fit the vibe of X-Men, but it certainly fits the Deadpool franchise. It is no surprise that Deadpool would be the one to bring Wolverine's comic book costume to live-action, given his penchant for acknowledging real-life gripes. Thankfully, despite there being no sign of it in Deadpool & Wolverine's trailers and photos, extraneous promotional material suggests that it will appear nonetheless.

An official image of the mask was unveiled at this year's CinemaCon, where a promotional cup for Deadpool & Wolverine was distributed. Given this is official material and that it would be remiss of Marvel to debut one part of his costume without the other, it's a safe bet that it will appear. With that in mind, it looks as though Marvel is keeping Wolverine's iconic mask up its sleeve for a reveal that is no doubt intended to elicit raucous reactions from Marvel fans who have been waiting 24 years to see Jackman's Wolverine don his iconic helmet.

Nevertheless, Wolverine's comic-accurate costume nearly debuted in The Wolverine in an alternate ending. In it, Logan is offered a suitcase by Yukio as he prepares to leave Japan, which he opens to reveal a comic-accurate costume complete with a cowl. He turns up his nose at the offer, which is ultimately for the best. Wolverine's helmet might work in Deadpool & Wolverine – especially if donned for a fleeting scene – but the fact of the matter is that Jackman would be hard to take seriously in full costume.
