Fans may not know it, but the beloved character Kite-Man has an odd connection to the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again television series. Kite-Man has broken through and is about to receive a television adaptation of his own with the animated series Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!. The writer responsible for revitalizing the C-list villain had a few things to say about Kite-Man's connection to the Man Without Fear.
In a 2017 interview with CBR, then-Batman writer Tom King discussed his run on the series, including his reinvention of Kite-Man, a featured character in the "War of Jokes and Riddles" arc. King revealed that his inclusion of Kite-Man was "a tribute to Frank Miller" and Daredevil as well as Stilt-Man.
King went on to say that he thought it would be more satisfying to take a character that can make readers laugh and get more emotional responses with him. King wanted to humanize Kite-Man and make him a Sisyphus-like figure or a "guy who just can't win, no matter what".
Kite-Man's New Direction Was Inspired By Daredevil and Stilt-Man 
Right now's a curious time for both Kite-Man and Daredevil. Kite-Man reached new levels of fame among fans after he was made a recurring character on Harley Quinn: The Animated Series where he dated and was later engaged to Poison Ivy. Kite-Man departed from the show, but it was later revealed the character would be starring in his own spin-off show. But he's not the only one with an upcoming show as Daredevil is making his triumphant return to television. More than five years after Daredevil's third season ended, Matt Murdock will be returning in Daredevil: Born Again.
Few would think there would be any kind of connection between a beloved hero like Daredevil and a meme character like Kite-Man. But King wanted to pay homage to characters that inspired him and the end result was a reinterpretation of a small-time villain that stands out as arguably the most notable thing from King's run on Batman. It's also interesting that both characters are set to have television adaptations so close together, yet with radically different tones. It's odd, but it's also kind of charming that Frank Miller's time on Daredevil could lead to such wildly different shows.
Kite-Man and Daredevil are Cut from the Same Cloth 
Daredevil: Born Again is likely going to be like its predecessor show. Dark and violent. But Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! is almost certainly going to be a lot more lighthearted and funny (though probably just as violent as Harley Quinn: The Animated Series is). Both shows are rooted in one of the most iconic runs on Daredevil and while it's odd that they've gone in wildly different directions, it's still cool to see how inspiration can create the most unexpected kinds of art. Hopefully, both Daredevil: Born Again and Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! will do their best to honor Miller's run.
