I Know What Loki Season 3"s Story Should Be About Now That The MCU Has Replaced Kang

Now that Marvel Studios has officially moved on from Kang's storyline in the MCU, I know which story would be perfect to explore in a possible Loki season 3. Despite his death in Avengers: Infinity War, Tom Hiddleston's Loki returned in the Multiverse Saga, as a variant of the God of Mischief escaped during the Avengers' Time Heist. Loki's adventures with the Time Variance Authority brought him face-to-face with Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror, who was set up to be the Multiverse Saga's primary antagonist.
After Jonathan Majors' arrest and conviction in 2023, following his appearances in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki season 2, I was uncertain about Kang's fate in the MCU. News that Robert Downey Jr. would be debuting as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday made me think that Kang's storyline is well-and-truly over, but I still think a possible Loki season 3 could be the best place to confirm this abrupt ending. If it is confirmed, without Kang and his variants in the MCU, I know exactly what stories Loki season 3 should focus on.

I’m Sad Loki Season 3 Hasn’t Been Confirmed Yet Loki Season 2 Ended In November 2023 Loki is currently the only live-action MCU TV show to get a second season, and its follow-up installment was arguably even better than the first. While this has made me hopeful that more shows, including Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye, will get second seasons, I would love to see Loki get a third. I'm pretty sad that Marvel Studios hasn't yet confirmed Loki season 3, especially when the finale of Loki season 2 ended with so many loose threads, cliffhangers and unanswered questions – the story is begging to be continued.
At the end of Loki season 2's finale, "Glorious Purpose", Tom Hiddleston's new MCU hero sacrifices his own freedom to protect the infinite branching realities of the multiverse. This action also significantly changed how the Time Variance Authority works, as the organization no longer prunes timelines created by variants, but instead fights to protect every universe from dangers such as Kang and his variants. This seemed to lead perfectly into Loki season 3, but I'm still waiting for this to be announced, and when it is, I know what story should be told.
The title of the first episode of Loki season 1 in 2021 was also "Glorious Purpose," signifying a full-circle moment for Loki over the course of his two-season series.
Deadpool & Wolverine Debuted A New TVA That I Want To See More Of Deadpool & Wolverine's TVA Was Very Different To Loki's Close One of the things I loved most about Loki was the new world-building of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). This organization exists outside of time and space, allowing it to govern every branching timeline of the multiverse, though its original goal was to protect only the Sacred Timeline of Earth-616. This outdated mission was changed by Loki in 2023's season 2, leading to a huge renovation of the TVA that we saw in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. I want to see this more-modern TVA get more development in the MCU's future.
Deadpool & Wolverine's version of the TVA is sleeker and more contemporary than its darker predecessor. The fact that tabs are still being kept on Earth-616, while every other reality is also being monitored means that the new storytelling potential in the TVA is massive. I'd love for this to be exploited in the MCU's future, and a possible Loki season 3 could explain why some TVA agents, including Matthew Macfadyen's Paradox, are working against the organization's new mission, similarly to how General Dox did in Loki season 2.

Loki Season 3 Could Introduce More Anchor Beings To The MCU Deadpool & Wolverine Introduced The Concept Of Anchor Beings Until now, Loki has been the source of most of the MCU's new multiversal concepts. Deadpool & Wolverine changed this by introducing the concept of Anchor Beings to the MCU. It made complete sense to me that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would be the Anchor Being of Fox's X-Men franchise, officially dubbed Earth-10005, as he was one of the most significant cogs in Fox's X-Men machine. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Anchor Beings are described as being individuals of such importance that, when they die, their universe dies along with them.

While Hugh Jackman's original Wolverine was revealed to be the Anchor Being of Earth-10005, the MCU's official Anchor Being hasn't been confirmed. I've theorized that this could be Doctor Strange or Spider-Man, but it would be great to see their identity officially revealed, and a TVA-focused Loki season 3 would be a great place for this to happen. In fact, Loki season 3 could bring together several powerful Anchor Beings, perhaps forming a brand-new superhero team ready to battle the Multiverse Saga's new major threat.
How Loki Season 3 Could Further Set Up Avengers 5 & 6 Loki Season 2 Set Up The Old Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Perfectly, But Not Doomsday The ending of Loki season 2 seemed to perfectly set the stage for the TVA's involvement in 2026's then-titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The Phase 6 crossover event was originally planned to feature an epic battle between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Kang's variants, but Jonathan Majors' firing forced Marvel Studios to change its plans. While I would have loved to see the TVA and the Avengers hunting down and fighting Kang variants together, I'm now very excited about the new Avengers: Doomsday debuting Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Introducing Doctor Doom as a new villain in the MCU means the TVA might take on a new role in Phase 6. If Loki season 3 happens, the TVA could be shown to be bringing together Anchor Beings to form a team to take down Doom. Alternatively, I could see the TVA plucking Anchor Beings from their universes in an attempt to save them from destructive incursions in Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. By doing this, I reckon Loki season 3 would become one of the Multiverse Saga's most important projects, so I am desperate for it to be confirmed.
