Chris Evans" Deadpool & Wolverine Death Saved His Johnny Storm From A Worse Marvel Movie Fate

Chris Evans' Johnny Storm suffered a brutal death in Deadpool & Wolverine, but Cassandra Nova may have saved Evans' Human Torch from an ever more painful fate in the MCU's Avengers: Secret Wars. One of the most surprising of Deadpool & Wolverine's multiversal cameos is Chris Evans' Johnny Storm a.k.a. Human Torch, who returns seventeen years after his last appearance in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Johnny Storm's cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine also marks the first time Chris Evans has appeared in the MCU since Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers retired and passed the Captain America mantle on to Sam Wilson.
Unfortunately for Chris Evans' Human Torch, he isn't able to accompany Deadpool and Wolverine for too long in the Void, as Cassandra Nova rips his skin and flesh off his bones for allegedly insulting her. Such brutal punishment seems unjustified due to Deadpool's tendency to embarass people around her, but Deadpool & Wolverine's post-credits scene shows that, in Deadpool's defense, Johnny Storm did insult Cassandra Nova using the exact same words Deadpool repeated to her. What's more, Deadpool may have done Johnny Storm a favor, as Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom could have come up with a more visious idea than Cassandra Nova.
Johnny Storm’s Secret Wars Fate Is Worse Than His Deadpool & Wolverine Death Doctor Doom Turned The Human Torch Into A Literal Sun in Marvel's Secret Wars Custom image by Nicolas Ayala In Marvel Comics' 2015 Secret Wars storyline, Doctor Doom becomes a god and reshapes the multiverse to his will, creating a single universe named Battleworld. With his near-omnipotent power, God Emperor Doom places Johnny Storm in the sky, forces his body to expel all his energy permanently, and uses him as a living sun for his Battleworld. To add insult to injury, Doom brainwashed Sue Storm prior to Johnny's punishment, and he left Johnny's fate up for Sue to decide. Sue's out-of-character decision to torture her brother, of course, didn't come from her free will.
Related I'm Furious With Deadpool & Wolverine For How It Treated Chris Evans' Johnny Storm & His Ending Chris Evans returned to the MCU as Johnny Storm — not Captain America — in Deadpool & Wolverine, and though it was a fun role, I disliked key choices.
9 Had Chris Evans' Johnny Storm survived and escaped the Void in Deadpool & Wolverine, he may have returned in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, where he would likely have met Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Besides a long-awaited reunion between Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. years after the end of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark's MCU journey, a multiversal crossover event like Avengers: Secret Wars could have adapted Marvel's 2015 Secret Wars comics and accurately portrayed the Human Torch's torture at the hands of God Emperor Doom.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps Needs To Prove How Powerful The Team Really Is The MCU's Fantastic Four Must Prove Why They're An Especial Version Of The Team Close The Fantastic Four have been quite unlucky in the MCU so far. Earth-838's Reed Richards failed to contain the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, dooming the Illuminati and lasting just a couple of seconds fighting Wanda before she warped his body into strings and popped his head like a balloon. Now, Pyro defeats Johnny Storm effortlessly in Deadpool & Wolverine, and Cassandra Nova kills him with a flick of her wrist. After their variants' humiliating deaths, The Fantastic Four: First Steps' titular team needs to prove that they're smarter, more powerful, and better strategists than their multiversal counterparts in order to establish themselves as the main version of the team.
