2024"s Other R-Rated Marvel Movie Must Be A Hit So I Can Get My Ideal Spider-Man Film

I want Kraven the Hunter to be successful so that it could lead to the ideal dark Spider-Man movie that I think would be incredible to see. Deadpool & Wolverine has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. That is a major feat in itself, and even bigger when considering that the project is the first R-rated movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While there are no other MCU films set to debut this year, there are still two Sony Marvel movies coming in 2024, Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven the Hunter.
Your browser does not support the video tag. The latter will be an R-rated adventure, and given how the film's trailers have been bloody and violent, it seems Kraven the Hunter will use that rating to the fullest when it comes to the action department. The movie also has a darker tone than most superhero adaptations. Kraven is an excellent villain for Spider-Man, and I hope the two can meet in live-action, be it in Sony's Spider-Man Universe of the MCU. The two have fought several times in the comics, with one particular story being perfect for a future Marvel movie.

I Think Kraven The Hunter Can Break The SSU's Box Office Bomb Trend The Shared Universe Has Been Facing Some Issues Close Kraven the Hunter needs to be a success for a few reasons. The biggest one of them is that the movie could be what Sony uses to determine the future of the SSU. While the Venom movies have been successful at the box office and with fans, that franchise will come to an end this year. Venom: The Last Dance has been confirmed as the last Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. I think that is troubling for the SSU, as the two other franchises in the shared universe, Morbius and Madame Web, have both become major box office bombs.
Kraven the Hunter's latest trailer also showed the first full look at the Spider-Man villain Rhino, who looks comic book-accurate and should give a boost to ticket sales.
That said, I am optimistic about Kraven the Hunter's chances of succeeding. The movie's trailers are exciting, promising an action-packed R-rated adventure. Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the movie's lead is also another positive sign, as the actor always delivers no matter what project he is on. Taylor-Johnson also has plenty of superhero movie experience from leading two Kick-Ass films and playing Quicksilver in the MCU's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Kraven the Hunter's latest trailer also showed the first full look at the Spider-Man villain Rhino, who looks comic book-accurate and should give a boost to ticket sales.

5 What Kraven The Hunter Needs To Become A Success The SSU Movie Hopes To End A Negative Trend Close According to the specialized box office tracking website Box Office Mojo, Morbius' global box office sits at around $167.5 million. Shockingly, despite teasing the appearance of four Spider-Man-like heroines, Madame Web ended its theatrical run even lower than Morbius, with only $100.3 million. Both movies also had very negative critics' scores on the popular review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. While Morbius had a decent 71% score with audiences, the average with critics was abysmal, standing at only 15%. Madame Web's Rotten Tomatoes scores are even worse, with 11% with critics and 57% with audiences.
Kraven the Hunter would need to finish its global run with at least around $200-260 million worldwide to break even.
Kraven the Hunter has quite a hill to climb to be successful. After two major box office bombs, the SSU needs Taylor-Johnson's franchise to shake things up. According to Variety, Kraven the Hunter has a budget that is within the $100-$130 million range. Based on how movies normally need to double their production budget in order to be successful, accounting for marketing costs and other expenses, Kraven the Hunter would need to finish its global run with at least around $200-260 million worldwide to break even. Anything north of $300 million would be the most favorable outcome, ensuring a profit.
Venom: The Last Dance releases before Kraven the Hunter, and that movie's possible success could lead to more fans showing up for the SSU's next release.
As for review scores, Kraven the Hunter needs to change the game, pushing the SSU in a better direction. Both Venom movies, the biggest successes in the SSU, have audience scores in the 80s on Rotten Tomatoes. That mark is what Kraven the Hunter should aim for, ensuring good word-of-mouth that could carry the movie toward a good box office run. The upcoming SSU film does not even need to worry too much about the critics' scores, as the two Venom movies stand at 30% and 57%, respectively. That said, a Fresh critics' score could make Kraven stand out.
Related Kraven's Villain Will Break A Tired Spider-Man Spin-Off Trend From All 4 Sony Movies The first four movies in Sony"s Spider-Man universe have a similar trend with their villains, but Kraven the Hunter will try something new.
2 I Want To See Kraven’s Last Hunt Change Spider-Man’s Live-Action Adventures Kraven And Spider-Man Should Meet In A Movie Close I really want Kraven the Hunter to be successful so that we can get a "Kraven's Last Hunt" live-action adaptation. The story is Kraven's most iconic in Marvel Comics and also one of Spider-Man's darkest. In that story, an older Kraven decides to finally go all out and kill Spider-Man, proving he is superior to the hero. Kraven seemingly succeeds in doing so, shooting Spider-Man, burying him, and even donning the wall-crawler's suit. However, it was later revealed that Peter Parker did not die, but was only buried alive by Kraven.
While in the Spider-Man costume, Kraven takes to New York City's streets and brutally kills villains, trying to prove himself Peter's superior. After fulfilling his goals and establishing himself stronger than Spider-Man, Kraven commits suicide and leaves a note to the police that explains he was the one killing the villains, not Spider-Man. Spider-Man's live-action adventures have never been this dark, and I want to see that potential explored, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson having the skills to make such a nuanced take on Kraven work — needing only makeup to make him look older. This could be Spider-Man's first R-rated live-action adventure.

2 Kraven’s Last Hunt Could Lead To Miles Morales’ Live-Action Debut Sony Has Live-Action Plans For Miles Morales Close Miles Morales has exploded in popularity thanks to the animated Spider-Verse movies. As such, I can't wait to see when the character will make a live-action debut. Sony already has plans for that, with Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal commenting on a Miles Morales live-action movie. According to her, it will come "someday" after Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. That timeline could fit in nicely with an adaptation of "Kraven's Last Hunt."
Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending set up a darker, more personal story for Holland's next Spider-Man movie. I think that if Kraven the Hunter is successful, there's a chance that Marvel could pivot to "Kraven's Last Hunt" for the movie, especially since Kraven was the original planned villain for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spider-Man 4, or perhaps an SSU adaptation of the Marvel Comics story, could end with Kraven in the Spider-Man suit and Peter Parker buried, thought to be dead. Miles Morales could then rise up as the new Spider-Man to confront Kraven, only for Peter to return later.
Kraven the Hunter Kraven the Hunter is the fourth movie in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, set in the same Marvel continuity as Tom Hardy's Venom and Jared Leto's Morbius. Played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the titular Kraven goes on a solo adventure as an anti-hero, this time independent of his comic book counterpart's crusade to hunt down Peter Parker.
