Speaking with Total Film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse co-director Joaquim Dos Santos talked about the process behind hiring 14-year-old animator Preston Mutanga, who had made a LEGO fan-version of the film's trailer, for the movie's LEGO scene. Check out the full quote below:

"When Phil and Chris mentioned the idea, we said the kid should make it! Their reaction was asking – "Is that legal?" We decided to find out and had our producer track him down, but he didn't believe at first it was the film studio reaching out to him! We gave him the assignment and Chris Miller worked closely with him on it."
