The Guardians Of The Galaxy are in a peculiar position as a superhero team in the MCU, being more a group of anti-heroes at times, and making some decisions that are outright destructive. The ragtag squadron of intergalactic misfits do a lot of good, saving entire planetary populations from destruction at the hands of villains like Ronan The Accuser and The High Evolutionary. That being said, the individual members of the Guardians certainly have skeletons in their closet, and don't always act as rationally compared to some of Marvel's other heroes.
Being much less professional than The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy are prone to sometimes making rash or poorly thought out decisions. With their involvement in the defense of the Earth during the events of the Infinity Saga, their instability as a group has affected even more people, with their actions having some devastating consequences across the universe. As the Guardians of the Galaxy largely go their separate ways, forming a new team at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, hopefully they can atone for their mistakes, moving forward as a new group.
