Park Seo-joon has been confirmed to be portraying Prince Yan in Marvel Studios' upcoming The Marvels, and his character has some interesting connections to Captain Marvel in Marvel Comics. South Korean actor Park Seo-joon, best known for his roles in Kill Me, Heal Me, She Was Pretty, and a special appearance in Parasite, joined the cast of The Marvels in June 2021 in a previously undisclosed role. Seo-joon will join Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, and Samuel L. Jackson in the MCU Phase 5 project, helping The Marvels to expand on Marvel Studios' cosmic stories, and advance the overarching storyline of the MCU's Multiverse Saga.
Set to release on November 10, 2023, as part of Phase 5, The Marvels is director Nia DaCosta's MCU debut, taking the reins from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who led the production of 2019's Captain Marvel. The Marvels is expected to explain some of what Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, was up to in her absence from the MCU between the 1995-set Captain Marvel and 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Park Seo-joon's new character will have a huge part to play in uncovering this mystery, though his people and planet could be in jeopardy as Zawe Ashton's villainous Dar-Benn appears to be on the warpath in The Marvels.
