How Long Was Nick Fury Gone From Earth?
Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Marvel's Secret InvasionMarvel's Secret Invasion has revealed just how long the real Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has been gone from Earth in the MCU. Revealed at the very end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the former director of SHIELD was actually the shape-shifting Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Fury's ally first seen in Captain Marvel. Instead, the real Fury was confirmed to be off-world. Now that he's back in this new MCU series, the amount of time Nick Fury was away has been specified.
Secret Invasion has begun to pull back the curtain on Nicky Fury's whereabouts in the MCU now that he's finally returned to Earth. Coming back to deal with a major conspiracy threatening the entire human race, Fury discovers that there are Skrulls on both sides of this new conflict and an imminent global takeover. However, it's also been revealed that Fury took on a brand-new mission after the events of Avengers: Endgame and the Blip, explaining his long period away and why Talos had been posing as him on Earth.
