Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.An Easter egg referencing the character of Quake from Agents of SHIELD that was hidden in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse only served to highlight Marvel Studios' refusal to reference the show in the MCU. Despite Agents of SHIELD running for seven seasons and developing a loyal cult following, Marvel Studios has seemingly been reluctant to utilize any of the actors or characters from the show in other MCU films or television series. Indeed, there has been some question whether Agents of SHIELD is still considered canon, despite having been designed to be the first television show based on the MCU setting.
The debate has now resurfaced, thanks to an Easter egg in Across The Spider-Verse. When Miles Morales crawls through the window into his dorm, two clipped newspaper articles can be seen on the wall by his desk. The headline of the first clipping reads "HERO OR ROGUE?" The second features the shadowy outline of a woman. Both articles were recognized as having come from Agents of SHIELD season 4, and the storyline where Daisy "Quake" Johnson struck out on her own as a vigilante.
