Will Tom Holland Be In Spider-Verse Movies? Sony Exec Has Intriguing Answer
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse may have yet another Spider-Man variant to add to its ever-expanding cast, as one Sony executive hints that Tom Holland's superhero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe could appear in the upcoming sequel. A sequel to 2018's hit animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the forthcoming multiversal film is set to introduce dozens of Spider-Man variants from multiple different realities. Across the Spider-Verse's multiversal setting has predictably led to rumors that other live-action Spider-Men could appear therein, including Holland's beloved iteration last seen in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Just three months before the highly anticipated film hits theaters, Sony producer Amy Pascal has reframed what audiences should expect from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Pascal gave an intriguing response to rumors that Holland's Spider-Man would appear in the film:
“[Fans will] have to wait a couple of years to see what we do. But, with the multiverse going both ways, could Tom Holland’s Peter Parker head into the animated Spider-Verse? I am not going to comment on anything around that! But I can tell you that Tom Holland does love these [Spider-Verse] movies…”
Although Pascal's comments are anything but definitive, her responses are delightfully reminiscent of the lead-up to No Way Home, wherein everyone involved with the film denied appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. She even reveals that Holland has seen the Spider-Verse films and is a fan, suggesting that she has at least spoken with the actor about his opinion on the franchise–perhaps more.
