The MCU May Be Setting Up The Weirdest Mantis Story For After GOTG 3

After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios could explore one of Mantis' weirdest storylines from Marvel Comics. The current roster of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be changing significantly after the MCU's Phase 5, as director James Gunn is parting ways with Marvel Studios, and it's expected that multiple characters will meet their ends during the upcoming film. Even though some of these beloved characters will be leaving, however, Marvel Studios will also introduce new and exciting heroes and could set the stage for some epic adventures for the lesser-used Guardians in the MCU's future.
Introduced back in 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Mantis has seen very little development in the MCU, but this could change after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Pom Klementieff portrays Mantis, an empathic hero adapted from the comics' character who debuted during 1973's The Avengers #112 but has often faded into the background of the Guardians team. This changed in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which revealed that Mantis was, in fact, Peter Quill's half-sister, and gave Klementieff and Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, much more screen-time. This could continue as Marvel Studios can now set up one of Mantis' most surprising Marvel Comics storylines.
