MCU Spoilers Subreddit Shuts Down Amid Legal Battle With Disney

Marvel Studios and Disney are cracking down on Marvel Cinematic Universe leaks, forcing a popular Marvel Spoilers sub-Reddit to shut down. Known for going to great lengths to keep specific plot details for their projects tightly under the lid, information about MCU films and TV shows have leaked numerous times over the years. Now, Kevin Feige's Marvel Studios is taking action to hold leakers accountable.
Per Variety, Disney filed a request on Friday (March 10) on behalf of Marvel in a federal district court in California. They asked the court to issue a subpoena that would mandate Reddit to identify the users who were involved in a dialogue leak about story details about Ant-Man 3 on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit around Jan. 20, 2023. Specifically cited parties are the "‘u/MSSmods'” as well as that of “any other user(s) responsible for posting, editing, and/or maintaining the content” on the subreddit from Jan. 15-Feb. 15. The request is in pursuant to the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Meanwhile, Reddit has released its response to the matter, saying:

“Reddit is committed to protecting our users’ privacy. We have rigorous processes in place to assess legal requests and object when appropriate,”
