The first Captain America: New World Order set photos reveal Anthony Mackie's Marvel Cinematic Universe return as filming begins. After starring in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ in 2021, Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson is set to star in the fourth Captain America set for release in May 2024. Sam Wilson's first movie as Captain America will bring him into conflict with President Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford) and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson). Marvel Studios has otherwise kept plot details mostly under wraps regarding what brings the MCU's new Captain America into action against these familiar foes.
Filming has officially begun on Captain America: New World Order, as Just Jared has shared the first Captain America 4 set photos featuring Anthony Mackie's MCU return.
The series of photos show Sam Wilson in casual attire as he appears to look at a small restaurant known as Smyth's Diner. It appears that the scene takes place in West Virginia, even though Captain America 4 is filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Anthony Mackie is the only cast member who has been spotted so far as the Phase 5 MCU movie directed by Julis Onah. Smyth's Diner is a reference to the comics, as the location was featured in Adventures of Captain America #2 in 1991.
